What is Reiki and how it’s changed my life!

Reiki has been a big part of my life for over 20 years. I have always had a fear of public speaking and part of my job was to deliver presentations to large groups. My anxiety would start to build a few weeks before the event and would become greater the closer it got. I had many sleepless nights worrying I wouldn’t be able to get my words out. On the day of the presentation, I couldn’t even lift a glass of water for fear of dropping it because my hands were shaking so much! Rather than keep asking my GP for medication I decided to try find an alternative treatment. That is how reiki came into my life. The reiki practitioner I went to see said I had a blockage in my throat/communication area. It took a few sessions but can say it truly helped reduce my fear and anxiety. I have never looked back and decided to train and become a reiki practitioner myself. I needed to share reiki and help others. Reiki has now become part of my daily routine. I have become a calmer, confident and kinder person.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese spiritual healing technique in which practitioners can help your body heal itself through touch. It’s a simple, non- evasive and safe treatment which helps promote healing on a mental, emotional and physical level. It helps reduce stress, anxiety and promotes relaxation.
The term ‘reiki’ comes from the Japanese words ‘rei’ meaning universal and ‘ki’ which means vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Some practitioners describe reiki as acupuncture without the needles!
Reiki practitioners use their hands to deliver energy to your body. The energy is directed to the areas that need it most allowing natural healing mechanisms to work. Reiki treats the whole person, body, mind and spirit, to achieve balance and restore optimum health.
